The Bastrop County Black Chamber was officially established on June 19, 2025, a date chosen with deep cultural significance. Founded on Juneteenth, the day commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Texas, the Chamber was created to honor the legacy of resilience, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment within the Black community.
The idea for the Chamber emerged from ongoing conversations among local business leaders, educators, and community advocates who recognized the need for a centralized organization dedicated to supporting Black-owned businesses and amplifying Black economic influence in Bastrop County. As the county continued to grow, so did the desire to ensure that Black entrepreneurs had access to the same resources, visibility, and opportunities shaping the region’s development.
On June 19, 2025, the Bastrop County Black Chamber held its inaugural gathering, bringing together a diverse group of founders, small business owners, and community members. The launch symbolized a new chapter in economic collaboration—one rooted in shared history, cultural pride, and a commitment to progress.
Since its creation, the Chamber has focused on building a strong network of Black-owned businesses, advocating for equitable access to capital and contracts, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering partnerships that uplift the broader community. Its founding on Juneteenth serves as a continual reminder that economic empowerment is a key part of the ongoing work toward freedom, opportunity, and prosperity for future generations.

The Bastrop County Black Chamber is dedicated to advancing the economic, cultural, and educational well-being of Black residents and businesses throughout Bastrop County. As a central hub for advocacy, entrepreneurship support, and community leadership, the Chamber works to expand opportunities, strengthen local networks, and ensure equitable access to resources that empower Black-owned businesses and professionals.
